The Polish football players tied in Lublin with Sweden 2:2, losing in the first half 1:2 in group A of the Under 21 UEFA Euro. The goals for the white and reds were scored by Lukasz Moneta and Dawid Kownacki and for the Scandinavians Carlos Strandberg and Jacob Larsson.
„We can not hide that this was a crazy match. After taking the lead we conceded two goals again. In the second half we did not utilize all of our situations but near the end we managed to score the equalizer with a penalty shot. This tie will hold us in the game to advance. We spoke about this in the locker room and we believe that we can advance.” – stated Tomasz Kędziora the captain of the Polish Representation.
In the second match in group A England defeated Slovakia in Kielce 1:2 with Slovakia leading the first half 1:0. The goals for the Islanders were scored by Alfie Mawson and Nathan Redmond and for the Slovakians Martin Chrien scored the the one goal. Over 12000 fans attended this interesting match up.
We would like to thank all of our fans for the magnificent atmosphere at the stadium. „I feel sorry for the fact that our team was not able to repay them with a victory” – stated the Slovakian coach Pavel Hapal.
The English trainer Adrian Boothroyd concluded „we played better than with the Sweeds, the match was very difficult but we expected this because Slovakia has excellent players.”
After two matches in group A England with four points is the leader of the group, second place is taken by Slovakia who has three points,3rd place Sweden has 2 points and last place Poland has one point.
On Thursday to end the group stage in Kielce Poland will play against England and in Lublin, Sweden will face Slovakia.
To the semi finals the winners of the three groups and the second best team out of all three groups advances. The Polish team will advance to the final 4 if they win with a two goal lead over England and if a tie in the game between Sweden and Slovakia occurs.
Today in the the Under 21 UEFA Euro two games will be played in group B. At 6:00pm in Bydgoszcz, Serbia will play with Macedonia and at 8:45pm, Spain will face Portugal in Gdynia.
