The youth Polish representation lost with Slovakia 1-2, in the first match of the European Championship in Lublin. The lead for the white and reds was taken by Patrick Lipski in the first minute of the match. In the 20th minute Martin Valjent equalized the score and in the 78th minute Pavol Szafranko scored the winning goal. The next rival for Poland will be Sweden on Monday.
In the first match of the Under 21 European Football Championship Sweden tied England with no goals scored in Kielce. In the 81st minute England’s Ben Chilwell fouled Linus Walhqvist in the penalty area. With no hesitation the referee called for a penalty shot. Linus Walhqvist took the penalty shot which was saved by Jordan Pickford. The Polish team stands in last place in group A. Slovakia leads group A in front Sweden and England.
The match between England and Sweden was watched by Vice President of the UEFA Karl-Eric Nilsson who is also the President of the Swedish Football Association. The 60 year old Sweed is one of the 5 alternate commissioners for Aleksader Ceferin from Slovenia, who is the President of the European Union Football Association.
Before the match Karl-Eric Nilsson met with the Mayor of the city Wojciech Lubawski and the voievodship Marshall Adam Jarubas. The Swiętokrzyski Football Association was represented by President Mirosław Malinowski and Vice President Tomas Domaradzski.
Today in the Under 21 Euro the rivalry will begin in group B. At 6pm in Bydgoszcz Portugal will play with Serbia and at 8:45pm Spain will play with Macedonia in Gdynia.
